Newtest product news
by Dan Jayes, Marketing Manager

Newtest Enterprise Portal version 2.1.0* offers the following enhancements :

  • Simplification and extension of reporting capabiities: Simplification, reorganization and grouping of reports: addition of a page detailing measurements (data) for exports (CSV, XLS, etc.). Data of a finer grain: display in 5-minute segments (instead of 15 min.). Possibility of fine-tuning the selection of measurements: the data to display (location / business / custom group) may be selected on request.
  • Improvement of the data processing chain: Improvement of NMC’s processing of data from robots: processing of NEP caches directly in the database. Improvement of ETL to the datawarehouse (DTS SQL 2000 => SSIS SQL 2005): better processing time. Improvement of data insertion => more reliable system, less loss of data. Better security of the entire measurement processing chain.
  • Compatibility with SQL 2005 datawarehouse: obsolescence of the server’s SQL 2000 version, no longer supported by Microsoft (free support ended April 2008)
  • Activation of web services management via NMC: open to the outside world, supplied with a library of web services.  Optional image wall module: customized wall of images for real-time display of test results.
  • NMC standard supervision: monitoring of data propagation all the way to the datawarehouse (DWH): formerly necessitated intervention at the level of database server administration (log analysis). NMC displays the operating status of every element involved in the data supply chain

New Newtest Robots

Two new Robots v. 7.4.1 are now available:

  • Newtest Multi-Probe Web Services (7.4.1): measurement, monitoring and analysis of the quality of web services using SOAP; simulation of each request using different parameters. This is a dedicated robot running 20 queues of 12 scenarios (for a total of 240 possible scenarios).
  •  Newtest On Request (7.4.1): this robot includes a set of 100 or 200 non-scheduled scenarios which are on standby pending launch and execution. They may be selected and launched from Newtest Management Console or Newtest Operation Portal. Test on Request robots can be deployed to a variety of sites in the company or in a particular production room. Display of test results is shown on the Newtest Operation Portal image wall.

Newtest Robot and NTBR 7.4.1: The full robot and NTBR will be available towards the end of 2008. The main improvements are the new learning wizards, which increase possibilities of managing scripts in guided mode, expansion of VBS support for scripts, and activation of HTTPWatch on robots.
